tumblr customization

People have been asking me how I like Tumblr.  I like its designs and its intentions, but I find it incredibly annoying that very simple things like alignment are missing, and just now I had a friend vent her frustration at not being able to comment.  Isn’t that the point of blogs, that you give not just the blogger venues for self-expression, but also the readers?

Anyways, Tumblr’s response to this missing link: head to one of our third-party business partners and use their free software to edit your HTML.  It’s sort of like product placement in each and every one of the site’s blog posts - something about that doesn’t sit right with me, although now I do indeed have commenting enabled.

Although simple things like this require that extra step on my (the user’s) part, in some ways I do like this simple contact with HTML code.  I know the basics (<b>, <p>…), but delving into these other realms is pretty cool as well - useful as well.  I also figured out how to put in a tag cloud, although I’ll eventually get around to hopefully changing the color.

Now feel free to commentate away, and keep your eyes peeled for more features!
